The Hanger Chair

What can I say, this chair looks at least interesting, but I don’t know how comfortable it is, maybe if you add a cushion to support your back. This chair is designed to save some space, so when you don’t use it you can hung it from hooks on the wall creating a contemporary art piece ( but I don’t know how many of you might consider a hung chair an art ).In conclusion, an interesting idea, but not to useful.  Designed by Pottinger and Cole.

gianluigi landonitags: livingroom

Though the word “elegant” is often used on this site, they absolutely apply to these pieces by Gianluigi Landoni. Above: Forum is fairly straightforward seating with a slab-like appearance due to extra-wide side sections. Gentle curves counter its monolithic tendencies, and can also be found in the black-lacquered low tables that accompany this collection. The Play series is not quite as convivial as its name implies, but it does carry a certain air of relaxation and comfort. These seats have a dual personality across two dimensions. Firstly, a free-reclining mechanism converts Play from an armchair to a chaise longue. Secondly, a nickel-plated metal frame is optional; with the frame, the chair takes on coldly modern, utilitarian sensibilities–but without, the chair is elegant yet warm and approachable, somewhat like meeting a queen in her private quarters. The Domino collection is perhaps more deserving of the name “Play”: this is a playful, yet elegant series of ottomans and tables that are offered in multiple colors, shapes, dimensions and materials. Choices to consider include wenge or steel and fabric upholstery or lacquered colors. Irregular, seemingly random shapes actually sport complementary curves that are designed to line up with other Domino pieces (”Jigsaw” is another name that comes to mind). Despite being a relatively small armchair, the Svea series has a charming, inviting appeal thanks to its shaped birch plywood frame and a warm canaletto walnut veneer, which can be perforated or smooth. As a finishing touch, the polyurethane backrest and seat cushion is wrapped in white thermal lap for both contrast and comfort, resulting in a delightful chair that is both minimalist and elegant. “Living Room” House in Gelnhause, Germany

Located in the historic district of Gelnhause, Germany, this unique project named the Living Room was designed by Seifert Stoeckmann. Now if you feel that your house has not enough windows, then I’m sure that after you’ll see this project you’ll change your mind. The house is perforated by 52 windows set in a checkerboard pattern. Just think for a second …52 windows …there will be a lot of work at washing them. The bedroom hangs in a sliding drawer that can be opened over the street for alfresco sleeping, very cool design. Finally I don’t think that I would like to life in a house like this, and the only reason for a house like this to exist is …as a tourist attraction. - Via

Curtain Wall House

Curtain Wall House was made by Japanase architect Shigeru Ban to interpret this term literally, poetically employing an actual curtain as facade wall. The house is situated on an constricted intersection in itabashi-ku, tokyo, consists of an elegantly spare two-floor Beverly Hills: Block / Leather Sofa Sets of open living spaces sandwiched between a large, overhanging triangular roof and deck that extend almost to the curb line. Behind the curtain, a set of sliding glass wall panels works with the curtain to create a completely insulated and private interior. The curtain as architectural element refers back to traditional Japanese design elements such as shoji and sudare screens, and fusuma doors common within the traditional Japanese house. Personally I see this project as an artistic project, something made for a picture or to attract press attention. The concept is interesting, but without any use, and that withe curtain will be grey, to black in a few days cause of pollution, especially in a city like Tokyo.

Modern architecture - Farnsworth House

The one-room, steel-and-glass house designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe that has been called one of the most important works of 20th century architecture. Located in a beautiful meadow on the banks of the Fox River two miles south of Plano, the Farnsworth House has been called “sculptural” in its simplicity and a masterpiece of design. Mies’ temple-like pavilion both invites and challenges visitors. Its unsurpassed views through transparent walls will cause you to consider anew how a man-made object best relates to nature. It’s not like any house you have ever been in. The Farnsworth House is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and operated as a house museum by the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois. Transcending any traditional domestic function or program, the importance of the house lies rather in the absolute purity and consistency of its architectural idea. You can see more pictures, and find more about the Farnsworth House from their website.

Fusion Multi Function Dining and Pool Tables

Here is a great idea from Fusion which combines gaming and dining into one piece of furniture. The tables featured here serve multi-functional purposes being both a pool table and a dining table. I must admit when I first heard of the concept I envisioned some hideous beast of a table. I was pleasantly surprised to see their product and how much effort that went into creating more of a home décor item than just a pool table. Now if you are faced with the challenge of dedicating a room to your spouse's pool habit their may be another option. From a space saving purpose, this is a great idea. Further, those that live in lofts, small apartments, or flats can have the hope of having a dinner party and a pool party in the same night. For pricing and availability information you must contact Fusion on their website here.

Rooftecture in Japan

Located in an old residential home in Shioya Tarumi-ku Kobe, Japan, the small home you see above is a great example of what innovation can do. Designed Endo Shuhei Architects the house stands out from the crowd thanks to its roof, which certainly is something you ain’t going to see every day. Facing the sea, the thin house was forced to use a triangular roof because of its site, with those steep slopes. And I must say they managed to maximize space with a brilliant idea. It’s like doing something out of what seems like nothing, and the Japanese seem to be doing good on that topic. - via

Stylish Maverick Writing Desk for the Modern Home Office

Maverick is a new release from Dakota Jackson featuring a very slim overall appeal that is typical in a writing desk. A touch of modern comes with the stainless steel pedestal legs, but not so much that Maverick cannot work in a transitional home office design. The woodworking is exquisite featuring walnut and sycamore veneers that have been carefully crafted forming a unique set of colors. There are two models. One has white drawers as shown, where another has no drawers and that area of the writing desk is all stained. More information can be found here about the product.
