Curvaceous Modern Platform Beds by Emmemobili
It never ceases to amaze me what can be done with laminated wood, and how furniture companies make great use of it. Laminated wood is layers of hardwood that have been adhered together and can be bent to create great looking and extremely durable furniture. Emmemobile has given us the Coiba modern platform bed from designer Ballibio-Elli that has a very recessed support and a storage headboard all in a very low profile construction. (Left) Not to be outdone, designer Rodolfo Dordoni brings us the Valentino platform bed with optional rounded night stands and leather padded headboard. The Valentino also from Emmemobili comes in two versions to fit you idea of the perfect bed.
Speak Bubble Shaped Speakers
In the last two weeks I think that I’ve presented about 3 or 4 speakers designs, but the design for today is the cutest, and I can say that is also my favorite. These speakers are simply called Speak-er, and for now they are just a very interesting “speak bubble shaped speakers” concept from Sherwood Forlee. This designer has on his page a sentence that I totally adore : “Sherwood Forlee is a designer with no design or art education.” I love this sentence because this is another proof that of a very creative product, without spending years studying. THOMAS WOLD’S Block Party Credenza is all about eliminating visual clutter, although the seemingly random array of panels introduces another level of clutter al together. Some doors swing outwards, while others slide, which is perhaps why the color coding is not only Beverly Hills: Trend / Leather Sofa Setsy but helpful. Also useful: pre-drilled holes for cable management and a power strip channel along the bottom shelf.

kitzig mc1 recliner & sesseltags: livingroom
The MC1 Recliner by Olaf Kitzig has an amazingly lightweight visual d furnitureplimented d furnitureanic curves that simultaneously evoke elegance and sensuality. Thick acrylic glass keeps the recliner stable, while simultaneously allowing for different color choices. The MC1 also features segmented leather-felt padding which is entirely optional although highly d furnituremended - this is hard acrylic after all.
Germany-based Mobilia is currently distributing this stunning recliner and although its main retailer in the US is DWR, the recliner has yet to make it over the pond. For the time, the MC1 seems firmly seated on the Continent.
Also designed by Kitzig but still prototypical is his Sessel Arm Chair. The name is a bit odd as this chair has no arms, but it retains many of the same undulating characteristics of its little brother. Sessel is clearly a wider girth version of the MC1 with 20mm acrylic glass and a “Rueckseitige†varnish. Modern Coat Rack by Eames
"Hang it All" is a modern Coat Rack designed by Eames in 1953. In its design there are several pegs where coats and other items can be hung from the rack. I like the colors that make up this piece. The snippets of colors appear where each peg is creating a small sampling of color that is not too overpowering.
