Gareth Neal Table

What cought my attention at this table designed by Gareth Neal is the interesting design of the table legs, and the detail of those legs. Gareth Neal don’t tell us any information about his table, just this picture. Particularly this, the ghost of a 1730’s Queen Anne table spliced with a more contemporary counterpart. - Via - Itsnicethat

Small Steps Bath Mat

What do you think about this bath mat ? A crazy idea, or something original ? I like it because from my perspective it looks quite funny, but not to practical if you are in hurry. This bath mat tries to help you move with little steps to the washbasin, or somewhere else after you take a shower or a bath. The main purpose is to avoid spreading water all over the house after a shower, and I think they have a good idea, and with practice you can gain some speed. - Via - Officina Creativa

If you are looking for some kitchen furniture I would like to show you this great example designed by David Rockwell and build by Sterling Surfaces countertop for the Riverhouse condominiums in New York. Sendai Bookshelves a Marvel in Contemporary Italian Design

Horm of Italy does more than produce everyday bookshelves. Once again they have delivered a contemporary Italian design marvel in its Sendai bookshelves model. Sendai features custom construction in the supports for each shelf. Each support is warped and changed to unique shapes creating an interesting look that departs from the structural shape we associate in bookshelf construction. The support legs look worn and tired, but in truth provide ample support for the shelves. The colors of the wood supports are walnut and natural giving the appearance of an exotic wood or a yet to be discovered bamboo. Designer: Toyo Ito. Product information: here. michiel van der kleytags: kitchen/dining, livingroom, miscellanea

Michiel van der Kley is a relatively young designer, both in terms of age and experience, yet has worked with numerous European designers including Artifort, Soft Line and Van Esch. One of his best known creations is the I-Con Desk, winner of the “best of the best” category at the 100%design furniture fair in Rotterdam in 2006. This beautiful minimalist desk is wrapped in white Corian with a dark, contrasting walnut center, and is perched on stainless steel legs. One version even doubles as a computer, with an LCD screen, speakers, bluetooth and Wi-Fi all integrated into the frame–this is somewhat apt considering the smoothly rounded Beverly Hills: Edge / Leather Sofa Setss have faint overtones of iPod. The Bingo Pouf has also been particularly well received; this attractive and highly versatile polyurethane foam mattress can also be folded up to serve as an ottoman, side table, or stool. An included bentwood tray helps further underscores its multifunctional nature. Structurally speaking, the high density foam provides ample support while the durable wool/synthetic upholstery enhances durability. van der Kley’s approach to seating is essential minimalism mixed with just enough comfort. His Conco chairs are comparable to a heavily eroded pebble; even the seams are reduced to a bare minimum, with a knot at the top to hold the fabric together, and a point at the bottom for the base to meet the seat. The Bird Chair is an interesting contemporary sofa which curves back on itself, while the more transitional Seven series features a rectangular silhouette that contrasts with a gently rounded seatback. The Chase series of coat stands and coat hangers are both highly functional but drastically different in terms of appearance. The Chase W is curvy and hollowed out, essentially hiding the hangers and minimizing its visual profile. The floor-mounted model takes the opposite tack with an attention-getting tripod design and dagger-like legs. Similar to the I-Con desks, Michiel’s Sumo dining table is topped with Corian and is a minimalist’s delight. Integrated but removable trays with circular depressions eliminate the need for plates, while a separate set of featureless trays can be inserted during work time to form a flat surface. Despite his relatively young age, van der Kley has an impressive design portfolio; we hope for (and expect) to hear much more about him in the near future. michielvanderkley.nl Popularity: 13% [?]

lamps by kinzig design hometags: lighting

KINZIG Design Home was founded by sisters-in-law Susan and Caryn; although initially focused on jewelry and metalworking, Susan eventually moved into the world of lamp & lighting design. The result: ornate glass lighting which is beautifully accented with copper and brass patinas, embroidered lampshades and stylish finials. The use of rich fabrics and blown glass further lends these lamps a delicate and sophisticated presence. $540-$735, d furniture Popularity: 4% [?]

couchoidtags: livingroom

BLU DOT’S Couchoid is ultra clean, with a simple, squared frame and a barely visible chrome-plated base. I particularly like how the armrests are elegantly defined by a simple crease in the seat; sans the angle, they would fade into the couch entirely. Note that the upholstery is made from cow-free, leather-like vinyl; a clean conscience is part of the package as well. $1,399, d furniture Popularity: 4% [?]

Nelson Coconut Chair

Nelson Coconut Chair is a chair that has an innovative design, and an innovative shape. Intended to combine comfort with freedom of movement, the shape of the Coconut Chair’s white molded shell was inspired by the shape of Eero Saarinen’s Kresge Auditorium at MIT. Echoing both the auditorium’s triangular shape, as well as a portion of coconut shell, the Chair’s unique form invites a number of different seating positions. The shell sits upon a chromed-steel base with three thin legs. A single-piece foam cushion, upholstered in high-quality semi-aniline leather, is molded into the shell. Finally the price for this chair is very expensive, $3,899.00 and you can get it from here …I don’t even know why they put prices like that.
