Piet Mondrian Inspired Vase

I have always had a fond spot for Dutch modern master, Piet Mondrian. Piet's paintings and choice of colors and shapes in the 1910s-1920s swept the art world. Though the art movement was moving towards cubism, Piet moved from traditional painting techniques to abstracts such as pictured here. Every year there is a sweater, purse, or design object made in the likeness of his works. This vase here from Chiasso features such influences. Dimensions: 9.5"x 7.5" x 3". Price: $78. Available: here. Via. Continue reading "Piet Mondrian Inspired Vase" »

A Most Unique Bookcase from Gagosian Gallery

Most of the products and furniture featured here at Furniture Fashion are very unique, but this may be on the top of the list. The Voronoi marble bookcase from the Gargosian Gallery is unlike any other decorative shelving I have seen. I really like the organic flow of the piece and how the winding structure creates a myriad of unduplicated cubby holes. I can't quite see this limited edition bookcase being filled with books, but I am sure a few special editions may make the cut. Marc Newson designed the Voronoi for Gargosian Gallery which is shown here in white Carrara marble. 70-7/8 x 110-3/16 x 15-11/16.

Tufty Time Sofa

Tufty Time Sofa is designed by Patricia Urquiola and this seating collection of traditional sofas, corner sofas and islands is consumed by tufting to the point that they seem to be composed of discrete cubes. The Tufty-time consists of various modules made of large-scale square tufts which can be combined in different ways to form a variety of configurations. The large depth of the sofa seat and its soft features make it extremely relaxing!

Ygne Summer House in Gotland, Sweden

The Ygne summer house if situated on the island of Gotland, one of Swedens most popular summer holiday spots and is designed by Sandellsandberg. The design ambition was to build a house that would recess into the natural environment. FLoor to ceiling windows wrap the house from the entry facade into the inner courtyard, allowing the heavily wooded exterior to become a part of the interior landscape. The main living area has a strong material change from the living area has a strong material change from the interior to the exterior. The exterior uses a rich material palette of Chinese tung oiled pine siding and decking, green painted siding and cor-ten steel detailing, where as, the interior uses a pale palette of white painted walls, white washed pine floor, concrete fireplace, and limestone. The sleeping area counter balances this with oiled masonite wall panels.

Steel Bean Bag Chair by Rick Ivey

The Steel Bean Bag Chair is a strange piece of furniture designed by Rick Ivey. I say strange because a piece of furniture made from steel ? This is very uncomfortable, cold, and I’m pretty sure that nobody would use something like this. The solution for this chair would be that someone to find a material that will look like steel, or at least have a metallic look but to be comfortable. Anyway if you really want a steel bean bag chair like this you can get it from here, but take a look at the price first ( $4500 ), you might change your mind.

For example Zane ( a loyal reader of this blog, who also helped me these days to make the website look good in internet explorer, after I’ve asked my readers to help me solve some problems - Thanks Zane !) told me that I post to many chairs, and that he’d love to see more houses in this blog. A simple comment like this would help me see what you like more, and provide that information to you. So …grab your keyboard and write a comment.

Ultra Modern Lounge Seating by Dima Loginoff

Designer Dima Loginoff of Moscow has a creative approach to modern seating as well as several areas of interior design. The young designer won a Design Debut Award for the Bone Lounge shown here, which is actually a compilation of many slightly different panels that when attached make a two sided modern bench style lounge. Also shown is Loginoff's C Lounge that takes on a smooth organic shape which has many faces depending on color and exterior texture. This is a great example of the bold and unusual furniture design by Dima Loginoff that I am sure will be expounded upon in years to come. See the entire collection here.
