Bathroom Vanities: Ideas for a Contemporary Home

Bathroom vanities are an important design feature for any bathroom. As a blogger, I am always on the lookout for designs that can provide ideas and inspire my readers. With my research I follow a lot of trade journals, design magazines, and blogs. Seldom are there real "new" ideas when it comes to bathroom vanities and frankly most of the images can be quite mundane. This is not the case in this article. These are bathroom vanities from an Italian company, Nova Linea. It is hard for me to pick a favorite between the "lines" versus the "polka-dots". I believe that both of these vanities could work in the right situation and create a phenomenal design for the lucky contemporary home owner. Via.

Real Pictures with The Toilet House

A few months ago we presented the Toilet Shaped House, but then we didn’t had to many pictures, and the pictures we had were just 3D renders of the project. When we presented the Toilet House for the first time that post had a huge success because we had 100 Responses on that single post. Now I assume that people were interested in this project and today I’ve found on Casa Magazine Korea a collection of pictures with the Toilet House, but this time with the real house.

Meritalia Leather Beds offer Beauty and Versatility

Any bed named Dallas would most certainly have to be made from leather, a material that symbolizes the "old west". As for the style, you might not expect a very sleek modern platform bed with clean lines made in Italy, a country synonymous with fine leather craftsmanship. Since 1987 Meritalia has manufactured expressly designed and exclusive products at the highest level of quality marrying the creativity of major architects with the technique, care, ability, and experience gained in 40 years of activity in this field. The Dallas bed is completely covered in carefully selected leather and features detailed stitching with rigid inner steel frame. The Dallas range also includes chests of drawers with sunken handles in dark-stained oak that offer the perfect compliment to the leather, keeping in line with the natural element. Leather beds can also transition into a preexisting set of drawer units, and the Dallas comes in a selection of colors which add to its versatility.

adam’s temptation and ercolinatags: livingroom, miscellanea

MOBELFORM PROBABLY WASN’T AWARE of the serpentine undertones of the Ercolina chaise lounge, but when paired with Adam’s Temptation the association seems almost divine. On one hand you have the homely Adam, essentially a bean bag wrapped with contrasting stripes and alternating vertical seams, so named because it resembles an apple. The more feminine Ercolina is tempered by an innate tension, as its tightly coiled shape can be stood on end and resembles a snake ready to strike; biblical reenactors would be d furniture (under products > chairs) Popularity: 7% [?]

Interior Designer Inspirations: Boutique Hotels

When asked where interior designers get their inspiration, most of us will tell you that it comes from many sources. It is true we have a keen eye for color, texture, pattern, and scale, but we seek sources of inspiration from time to time. When put on the spot, we may not be able to name all of our inspirational material, but much of it comes from real life experiences or images that we see in trade publications. Travel is one of a designer's greatest assets, especially to places most people never see or are unaware of. When I want to produce a look for a special client who wants something different, crisp, refreshing, or eclectic, I often look to Boutique Hotel designs to inspire me. I have collected some of my favorite inspirational photos and will give some brief explanations of the spaces, which will hopefully give you some ideas on how to implement these looks in your own home. First up is a living space that transitions into a dining area at the Hotel des Academies et des Arts in Paris, France. Continue reading "Interior Designer Inspirations: Boutique Hotels" »

And the Choice of the Judges Was ...

The guests of House & Home were not the only ones assessing the work on display at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. As usual, a panel of design magazine editors -- this year there were 11, from Britain, France, Italy, Canada and the United States -- gave out their own awards. (Interestingly, there was little overlap between their picks and those of the impromptu critics.) Continue reading "And the Choice of the Judges Was ..." »
