7 Furniture Ideas for Living Room Storage

The living room is typically the cornerstone of a home's design and often one of the most frequented rooms. I am always on the lookout for ideas on furniture that can serve as storage to keep the living room clutter free as much as possible. In most living room design pictures we see items such as sofas, sectionals, Occasional chairs, end tables, and a place for the television. What we don't typically see are good solutions for storage and organizing. I have included seven pictures from the contemporary design collection from Sawaya and Moroni. Even if these are not to your tastes, the designs and shape of these pieces may give you ideas about what can work in your living room. You can always find one in the style that you seek once you see a shape that will fit your decorating style. Via. Continue reading "7 Furniture Ideas for Living Room Storage" »

Bubble Rock Sofa : A Break From the Norm by Living Divani

Fun and unusual are two good words to describe the "Bubble Rock" ultra modern sofa series from Living Divani of Italy. This series has been seen as an "archipelago of seating and support, round, trapezoid, and squared surfaces to be used as you wish". Living Divani accentuated the bold shape of the Bubble Rock sofa with equally dramatic colors that create a piece you can't take your eyes off of. Living Divani has an extensive collection of sofas and sectionals as well as some equally dramatic Platform Beds, armchairs, and coffee/occasional tables you can see right here.

Stacking children's chair and desk

Frederic Collette has designed this cool chair and desk set for children 3-10 years old. If your home decorating theme consists of black objects, then this chair should compliment the design nicely. I like a bit more color for children's furniture, because kids really add so much to our lives. This chair has angles in the shape of an "A" to provide more stability in the chair so a child cannot topple it over easy. Underneath the seat is a storage compartment that uses magnets to keep the lid fastened snug with the drawer. The drawer is perfect for toys and other things that the child may want to keep close by. The fact that the chair stacks is a great feature for me. Children's things tend to wind up spread out around the home as they naturally are curious and move things around. In the case that you are to have guests over, you could stack the chairs up and arrange them neatly, or store them away in a closet. A desk is always a great place for a child to have for drawing, coloring, and school work assignments. The desk also has a storage compartment for miscellaneous items. These products are made of plywood lacquered in black, red, and orange. All paint is tested that it meets chemical requirements for children's toys. The Collect A chair and table are available at DanskDesign. Chair - $214 30cm x 30cm x 58cm height (seat height 35cm) Desk - $554 65cm x 67cm x 60cm height

Sectional Top the List in Furniture Market

As a retailer for the past 20 plus years I have seen many Beverly Hills: Trend / Leather Sofa Setss come and go. During the 70s and 80s the large pit type sectional was a very popular for Living Rooms as well as game rooms. This was a sectional usually comprised of many pieces with a multitude of pillows almost always ending up in a messy pile. Often recliners and other gimmicks were added in an attempt to make this behemoth more attractive to potential consumers. Well I am pleased to say that sectionals are on the rise and they have gone through a serious face lift to become a welcome addition to most interiors. According to Furniture Today the rise in sales is due to the growing popularity in the great room and media rooms many home are being designed with these days. Unique House Plans with Sloped Ceilings

When it comes to home design it is difficult to "think outside the box". Let's face it. The world is full of clichés. We hear that at work every day, at home, and amongst friends. So how do we really create something different? The first thing is to forget what we know now and start completely over. That is what I think of when I saw these unique house plans from Antonino Cardillo. This house impresses me since it defies commonly accepting building techniques. First off, any time that you move away from 90 degree angles, it becomes much more difficult to build without defect. Also, the distribution of weight in a home is much easier achieved through traditional construction methods. The home featured here is near Barcelona, Spain. As you look at the pictures you can see the incredible views of the home interior created by the sloped ceilings and the general curvature of the architecture. Via.

Moroso's Charpoy : India's Traditional Day Bed

Designers Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien offer us their modern take on the Indian daybed traditionally called the Charpoy which by the way is perfect for small space interior decorating and multi-purpose use. Charpoy has a handmade cotton and silk mattress embellished by precious crafted embroidery with a facsimile of a game, similar to drafts, which in India is reminiscent of the time of wars when kingdoms and wives were won as bets. The mattress of Charpoy is a highly valuable item that encapsulates the tradition, craft skills and richness of the hand finishing, contrasting with the underlying wood base with a black lacquer finish produced in Italy. See the entire collection of modern furniture that dares to defy the usual from Moroso of Italy.
