Big Cozy Books is the name behind these pieces of furniture shaped like books. These pieces are made by Erik Olofson and he began creating whimsical Big Cozy Books when his kids thought his design for a local library seating area was, well, boring. His daughter said, “Why don’t you make the seats look like big books?” The light bulb went on, and he started creating. Clock Side Table
This table with a clock included is an interesting idea, but I don’t think that this idea is to useful. Every time when you would like to check the clock you should go to the table to see it. In this case a wall clock would be more useful. This table could be useful for someone who works on a schedule, and is obsessed by time. Round Out Your Interior with Eero Aarnio's Pastil Chair
Here is a fun swivel lounge chairpletely different chair that has endured the test of time. The Pastil chair from Eero Aarnio was designed in 1967 as an after thought of the famous Ball Chair. According to Aarnio " a lot of empty space is sent to the other side of the world inside the Ball Chair. A new round chair would fit in this space, and so the diameter of the Pastil chair is the same as the opening of the Ball Chair". Upon its release the Pastil received the American Industrial Design Award and was hailed as "the swivel lounge chairfortable form to hold up the human body" by the New York Times. Unless Book Shelf from Pianca Italian Furniture
This week Furniture Fashion focused our attention on the Pianca line of Italian made contemporary furniture and revealed to our readers some original outstanding designs. Here is a very light and refreshing shelving unit that works so well as a bookcase against the wall or as a room divider floating in the middle of two rooms to create individual environments. The "Unless" shelving unit makes a nice statement without being heavy and ominous and features a doubled sided face with natural wood and glossy lacquer finishes. Pianca is one of my favorite modern furniture manufacturers that has evolved over the past 60 years with a "made in Italy" pride that is obvious in every piece.
Sound Wave Inspired Chair
Matthew Plummer Fernandez’s unusually textured chair was inspired by sound waves. Those contours were taken from an actual frequency plot (see below) or 3D graph of volume ( height), frequency (depth), and time (width) of a particular sound he chose. He tried more than 700 sounds before he found the one he liked for his chair.
