Set Piece Chair

Swedish designer Peter Andersson has recently launched a new piece of furniture at the luxury internet shopping site 20ltd. Peter Andersson has build up a reputation for creating pieces with a humorous twist, and he says that “A smile is the best feedback I can get for my work”. This chair at a first glance appears like a perfectly functional easy chair, but at a close look you’ll find that he is actually built like a stage prop. When we see the side and back of the chair the unfinished backside is revealed. - Via - David Report

Hockney Abstract Contemporary Sofa Sectional

Hockney is a contemporary sofa sectional with abstract shapes combined with normal shapes. The overall piece looks a bit abstract. Individual parts of the sectional, such as the rounded area, are much more commonplace in furniture design. The compilation of the Hockney sofa is likely attributed to the famous artist. David Hockney could paint from abstract to very detailed portraiture as he was a master at his trade. As far as comfort goes, there is ample room for lounging. The low back height could be a challenge for taller people and would need to be tested by the individual for comfort. The sofa was designed by Rodolfo Dordoni. Measurements: 88" w x 24" h x 142" d. Price: $9,857. Available: here.

Multi-Functional Lamp : Angel

At a first glance the Angel Lamp might look like a huge lamp, but in fact behind this the lamp opens-up to reveal a table, with a smaller lamp. I don’t know if I should name this a lamp or a multifunctional piece of furniture, but is something really impressive. The lamp shade screen is constructed in thermographed metacryl with frost effect surface, disk and column in natural aluminum, and table top in clear or stained glass. The base holds and hides electric cable management for a clean design. The space inside this lamp is very small and it can be used for a quiet place to right your thoughts down, or to do some work at night. The only thing that might scare you at this lamp is the price : $3888 and you can get one from here. - Via - techchee

Y'S de Luxe Swivel Chair from Cappellini Furniture

The Y'S de luxe swivel chair was created by designer, Christopher Pillet for Cappellini Furniture of Italy. Y'S construction features leather upholstery and aluminum legs. I am particularly drawn to the contours of the chair and find this type of styling to provide comfort for the person sitting. A bit of recline and raising of the legs helps the human body relax, something that I very much like to do in the evenings. Measurements: 21 3/4" w x 28" d x 30" h. Price: $2,570.00 - $3,988.00. Concrete furniture construction and design pictures

Part II of the Lance Stephenson interview is more pictures than words. Lance openly shares pictures of his design process on his website. It is easy to look at a finished piece of furniture and not understand the details and time put into construction. In these pictures, Lance clearly shows some of his self-created design techniques in working with concrete and steel to create furniture.

The Geraci Residence in Calabria, Italy

Mixing modern curves, shapes and materials with classic furniture and colors, Florence based architect Pierluigi Sammarro managed to turn the interior of the Geraci Residence in Calabria, Southern Italy, in a real dream home. With everything so well furnished, a lovely wooden staircase, beautiful curtains and wall prints, discrete lights and a highly modern kitchen, I’m pretty sure these owners are happy with what came out. However, there would be one thing I would have changed: the flooring. [via Contemporist]

Book End Wine Racks

Here are some clever book ends with the decorating influence for the wine drinker. Each book end is crafted with metal grape leaves. The metal leaves are subtle enough against the stain of the wood to blend in well. Each book end wine rack holds up to three bottles of wine. These would work nice in a home bar where there may be bartender books or books about wine. Price: $19.99 each. Product: here.

Radiator Heater Keeps Your Food Warm

“Natural Wave” is a clever little ceremic plate that sits perfectly on top of an old radiator and it was designed by Byung-seok You. It’s got places to set your coffee, tea, milk and other breakfast items to keep them warm without having to use another heating device like a microwave or oven. “Natural Wave” for now is just a concept that looks really good and can make it those old rusty radiators look a lot better. - Via - Boingboing Gadgets & Geeklogie
